It is 2014, a new year, off to a busy start with wedding hair which is exciting, I love it! So what wedding hairstyles will be trending this year for our brides??
This is a beautiful bride I done at Christmas. By softly sweeping waves up into a bohemian style chignon this creates a soft, natural pretty hairstyle. I loosely swept the sides around to prevent anything looking too severe. This kept the style "flowing" rather than too structured.
Jo's hair is thick and long and this hairstyle was perfect for this hair type.
Rather than having a tiara or fascinator we opted for little pearls gently placed throughout the hairstyle to create a bit of sparkle but still keeping within the bohemian style she wanted.
Katie Holmes wears a voluminous ballet bun, slightly undone and unstructured creating a soft and delicate up-do. Adding a pretty tiara or headband can glam up this look without being over the top.
Complimenting this style with gentle, natural makeup is very much what we will see this year.
A beautiful soft ponytail with a little volume on top with soft tumbling curls on the ends will sport the catwalks this year. Wear low for an air of sophistication. Will suit most face shapes and themes as it is simple, stunning and easy to wear!

Why not add vintage height to your roots, with a centre parting sweeping the hair into a
low chignon or french roll for a classic style. This soft and chic look can let you be adventurous with your makeup too.
Floral headbands will still be big in 2014! This kind of look is great on brides who have a natural curl in their hair. Rather than using tongs or GHD's to achieve a curl, work with the natural curl of your hair to keep it soft and pretty. Loosely pin up the curls for a tousled delicate style.
For something a little bit more structured and elegant, a horizontal roll of curls is perfect. Keeping the side parting soft and sweeping keeps it soft on the face. Adding a jewelled or diamonte piece in the side with the veil underneath is a style fit for a princess.
Waving the whole hair with large barrel tongs or GHDs then picking them up and placing into a wavy bun is a great way to achieve volume without too much structure. Adding in a simple flower hair piece keeps it pretty with a few loose strands around the face.
For a sophisticated and elegant style, a low roll kept neat with the fringe intertwined for a bit of drama. Teamed with a beautiful gold tiara makes this a winning bridal hairstyle. Red lips finishes it off to perfection!
Chignons are a timeless classic that will always look amazing for brides I think! There are so many shapes, sizes and styles of chignons but this typical, root lifted, soft and not to structured will be popular for brides this year as it is still all about the softness of a style that entices people to try it out as it is an easy wear that looks simply stunning.
This is another chignon, this time with pearl accessories and and a flowing veil. You really can't go wrong with a beautiful bun! This one is loosely curls then softly placed into a bun to create a bit of movement.
I hope this helps all you 2014 brides! I can't wait to hear what you would like to try out! Call us to book your free consultation with me and let's talk wedding hair!
